SUGAR LAND, Texas – An officer-involved shooting is being investigated after an off-duty officer was involved in a two-vehicle accident and shot at a driver, police said.
The incident was reported at 2:25 p.m. Sunday in the 15000 block of Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land.

Houston police said the officer had been driving his personal vehicle when he attempted to turn left at an intersection, but was struck by a Honda Civic. The driver of the Honda got out the vehicle and showed the officer a firearm, which made the officer feel threatened, police said. The officer fired at the driver’s vehicle once and the driver fled the scene, police said.
It is unknown if the driver was hit.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man who was driving an older-model Honda Civic with a two-tone turquoise paint job.
The Houston Police Department is investigating the shooting and why the officer discharged his weapon.
