Motorcyclist shoots driver in neck in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – A driver was shot in the neck Wednesday while driving in southwest Houston, police say.

According to investigators, a man was driving a black Mercedes around 11:00 p.m. along Timmons near Southwest Freeway when two motorcyclists drove near him. One of the motorcyclists pulled out a gun and shot through a back window of the car, police said.

The driver of the car was shot in the neck. The victim called 911 before he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He was listed in critical condition and had to undergo surgery, police said.

The motorcyclists got away before police arrived.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting, but believe road rage might have been a factor.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the two motorcyclists are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 713-22-TIPS.
