Mosque fire reported in Texas

VICTORIA, Texas – A state and federal investigation is underway after a mosque was destroyed in an early-morning fire in Victoria, Texas, officials said.

The fire was reported about 2 a.m. Saturday at the Islamic Center of Victoria.

Officials said a store clerk saw the flames and called the fire department.

There were no injuries reported.

The Victoria Advocate newspaper reports the president of the center said the building had been burglarized a week ago.

The mosque has a congregation of about 100 members and the president told the Victoria Advocate that they will rebuild.
