Money may be motive in La Marque murder Police: Victim owed suspect money
James Daniels, Jr. is accused of killing a man in La Marque.
LA MARQUE, Texas – The La Marque Police Department has made an arrest in a murder case.
Ricky Steele, 56, was found dead in the 900 block of Tallow on Thursday.
Investigators said Steele had been shot and also suffered extensive trauma to his body.
Police arrested James Daniels Jr., 22, the same day.
The La Marque Police Department said the official motive for the homicide is still under investigation. However, investigators said they have learned that the victim owed money to the suspect.
Daniels is charged with murder. His bond is set at $150,000.
