Missing packages cause headaches for Tomball residents

TOMBALL, Texas – Julie Childers, of Tomball, waited at her kitchen table for two missing packages.

She said one contained art and the other contained a gift.

"The first package was due here Monday, Feb 6. And I tracked it. It showed in at the Tomball Post Office. It showed sorted,” Childers said.

The tracking information showed it was out for delivery.

But more than three weeks later, it was missing. It was never delivered to her neighborhood post office box.

"It is still showing out for delivery," Childers said.

The same was true for the second package.

It should have been delivered two weeks ago. She had tracking numbers for both and both were still missing.

"It has still be scanning or sorting at the Tomball Post Office since Feb. 13,” she said.

She and several of her neighbors told KPRC 2 that they have had complaints with the post office before.

They said they included deliveries after 9 p.m. to crushed packages delivered.

"I'm still waiting on my two packages. I have taken this to the postal inspector. I've taken it to Houston Consumer Affairs. I've taken it to Washington, D.C., to the Department of Consumer Advocacy," Childers said.

A spokesperson released the following statement:

“The Postal Service strives to provide exceptional service to our customers but unfortunately, an occasional package may fail to reach its destination. Although an apology is no substitute for the loss of a package, we offer one in the case of this customer. It appears the package was not delivered to the addressee. Postal officials are continually working to improve service at the Tomball Post Office. The local Postmaster will contact the customer to provide further assistance. We appreciate our customer’s business and remain committed to providing excellent service.”
