HOUSTON – With just nine days to go until the big game, Houston is trying to make getting around during the Super Bowl as easy as possible.
They are encouraging people to use public transportation to get around town.
You'll see additional friendly faces along the light rail and METRO bus routes through the Super Bowl.
Eight hundred ambassadors will work three-hour shifts to make sure you get where you need to go.
"They're gonna be at all different positions in the system to help people to get around. So, on the platforms we'll have METRO ambassadors. At the different stops downtown we have METRO ambassadors," said Andrew Skabowski, METRO's chief operating officer.
Skabowski says it's also a good idea to download the METRO app to plan your trip and to buy your fare.
METRO says its light-rail rides will be free Monday through Wednesday.
While you will see more helpers along the light rail, there are some things you will not see around this Super Bowl.
It was a lesson learned 13 years ago.
Thousands of partiers gathered along the then-new METRO rail on Main Street.
Downtown was home to events, new bars and restaurants for the Super Bowl in 2004.
It was a success, but the large crowds shut down the rail.
That will not happen this time.
