HOUSTON - Three men in a van tried to use a fishing net Friday to kidnap an 11-year-old boy in north Harris County, deputies said.

The incident was reported about 8 a.m. on Star Peak Drive.

According to Harris County deputies, the boy was walking to Hill Intermediate School when three men in a van pulled alongside him. They said one of the men yelled, “Don’t run,” in Spanish at the boy.

When the boy turned around, he saw one of the men holding out a large pole with a fishing net attached, deputies said. The boy ran away, deputies said.

Deputies said the men were described as being in their 20s. They were last seen driving a white cargo van.

The boy was not hurt, deputies said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
