Man wanted for questioning in deadly hit-and-run

HOUSTON – Houston police are asking for the public’s to help find a man they want to talk to about a deadly June 23 crash.

Investigators believe Martin Ayala Sanchez, 31, may be the owner of the car involved in the hit-and-run that killed 19-year-old Kevin Joel Berrios-Rivera of Houston.

Investigators said the driver of a burgundy Scion was southbound in the 7800 block of Galveston Road around 10 p.m. and tried to make a left turn when the driver of a blue Ford Mustang hit the Scion from behind.

Police said the Mustang came to a stop not far from the crash and the driver ran away.

Berrios-Rivera was sitting in the backseat of the Scion when he was injured. Five people inside the Scion were transported to hospitals. Berrios-Rivera was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
