Father of 2 found shot to death in Pearland home

HOUSTON – A father of two was found shot to death Monday at a home in Pearland.

Investigators were called to a home in the 2100 block of Windy Shores Drive after reports of shots fired.

The victim's father, John Weido, spoke to KPRC2 and identified the 49-year-old man as Don Weido.

Police told John Weido two men tried to kick in the door to the house and shot Don multiple times as he came to the door.

Neighbors reported hearing five to six shots around 7 p.m. Sunday.

“I looked out the window and I saw two individuals, I assume they were men, looked like they were trying to kick the door in,” said neighbor James Moore.

Moore said his wife called 911 and he ran outside, but by that time the two men were gone.

"It was a gray looking sedan that was backed into the driveway," said Moore.

Investigators said Weido was alone and they don't believe it was a random act.

"It kinda gives us a little bit of relief that this is not just something that happened. It's scary," said neighbor Monica Winn.

Weido had two children, an 8-year-old son and a 23-year-old daughter. His son was staying with his mother Sunday night.

"You've never seen a more devoted father," said John Weido.

Police are currently investigating, and believe this was not a random crime, that the victim was targeted. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearland police at 281-997-4100
