Man shot, killed in apartment complex parking lot; Gunman sought

HOUSTON – Homicide detectives are working to find out who shot and killed a man in a parking lot at an apartment complex on Bissonnet near Braeswood Saturday evening.

The gunman is still on the loose.

Police said they believe the victim was visiting his girlfriend at the Stoneriver Apartments when he was shot.

"I heard about six or seven shots and then a pause and three or four more shots," said Micah Zech, a witness. "After the shots, somebody was yelling. It was definitely a male."

Zech works less than a block away from where the shooting happened and said he heard the gunshots about 5 p.m.

"They found a Hispanic male deceased in the parking lot from an apparent gunshot wound," said Travis Miller, of the Houston Police Department.

Investigators surrounded the parking lot with crime tape as they combed the area for clues about how and why the shooting happened.

Residents waited outside as police scoured the scene.

"(It's) scary. Scary because there's always something going on over here," said Esther Ogbeide, a resident.

Police don't have a name or an age for the victim, nor do they have any suspects at this time.
