Teen arrested, charged in fatal shooting of man beating woman in front of kids

HOUSTON – A man was arrested after police said he shot and killed a man that beat his mother in northeast Houston.

Treveon Jones, 18, is charged with murder.

According to investigators, the victim, 40 year-old Frederick L. Wallace was hitting and choking his common-law wife while her three young children were in the backseat in a parking lot near 3100 Collingsworth around 6:10 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman then called family members including her son, Jones to come and get her.

When Jones and one of his friends, the woman was sitting in Wallace's vehicle along with three young children.

Jones and his friend removed the woman and children from the vehicle and Wallace began driving away.

Police said Jones fired multiple shots at the vehicle, killing Wallace.

"Whatever happened, I don’t think it would cost somebody their life, they didn’t have to kill him, 18 times with an AK 47," said James Campbell who lives in the neighborhood.

The Houston Police Department Homicide Division is continuing the investigation.

"I have seen  a lot of people die, I have been to a lot of funerals, I just wish we would all come together and stop killing each other." said Danielle Williams, resident.
