Man found shot to death at southwest Houston apartment complex stairwell

HOUSTON – A man was found shot to death Wednesday at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.

Police were called around 2:30 a.m. to the Piper's Crossing Apartment complex in the 12500 block of Sandpiper Drive.

Crystal Rose, 27, got into an argument with his girlfriend early in the morning, police said.

When his girlfriend returned to the apartment, Rose assaulted her, according to police.

Rose got upset when another apartment resident offered to help his girlfriend leave, police said.

Rose retrieved a firearm and threatened to shoot several other people who had gathered in a courtyard outside the complex, authorities said.

An unidentified man, who was also in the courtyard, fatally shot Rose, according to authorities.

No arrests have been made and police said they are searching for a thin black man between 35 and 40 years old.
