Man shot, left to die in street near Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – Police are searching for the gunman who shot a man and left him to die off the Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston. 

Police say the man was found in the u-turn lane of the Gulf Freeway at Almeda Genoa at around 1 a.m Friday. 

He had one gunshot wound to the neck and was taken to the hospital alive. He died a short time later. 

Police said there were no witnesses.

It's unclear what led to the shooting.
