Man charged with murdering girlfriend seen on video at woman's apartment

CONROE, Texas – The man who is charged with capital murder in the death of his missing girlfriend appeared in court Tuesday.

According to court documents, Jarvis Hickerson, 32, killed Amalia A lexander, 32, in retaliation after Hickerson beat up Alexander a week earlier and she filed a protective order against him, the documents said.

Alexander was reported missing on Sept. 20 after she failed to show up for work. Deputies said she was last seen with Hickerson on Sept. 19 after they left her sister's home.

Surveillance video showed Hickerson going in and out of Alexander's apartment complex the night of her disappearance, prosecutors said.

“Investigators called the cell phone of the complainant, no answers,” the prosecutor said. “They then obtained surveillance video at the apartment complex showing the defendant's truck coming and leaving in the early morning around the last contact of the complainant. From what the video showed, (there was) a large object in the bed of the defendant's truck.”

Prosecutors said when they went to Alexander's apartment on Oct. 5, there were clear signs of a struggle.

Investigators said that on Nov. 30 cellphone records led them to Alexander's skeletal remains in a shallow grave in Montgomery County. Clothes were also found nearby, investigators said. Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Investigators said they found evidence that Hickerson had been near the crime scene.

Hickerson was already in jail for violating the protective order when he was charged with Alexander's death.

Alexander's sister was at the court Tuesday and said Hickerson was possessive with her sister and she tried to warn her. She said Hickerson deserves to be punished for her sister's death.

Hickerson's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 6.
