Accused killer David Conley speaks out in jailhouse interview with KPRC 2

David Conley charged with capital murder after 8 found dead inside home

By Robert Arnold - Investigative Reporter

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - For the first time since being charged with multiple counts of capital murder, David Conley spoke with Channel 2 Investigates at the Harris County Jail.

Conley is being housed in an administrative segregation portion of the jail and was wearing the same yellow jumpsuit he wore to his appearance before a judge. Conley cried during portions of the interview, talked about God and about how he felt society, especially women, treated him unfairly because he was an "ex-con."

Conley would not answer direct questions about the eight murders he is accused of committing.

"Did you say anything to your son, your only son, before he died?" asked KPRC 2 Investigator Robert Arnold.

"I love Nate. I love Nate to death," Conley said.

Conley then said he was concerned his son was having "behavior problems."

"Nate didn't give me any respect because of what his mother was doing to me," Conley said. "She was cheating on me."

Conley also said he felt Valerie Jackson's husband, Dwayne Jackson, was "harassing" him.

"He tried to pimp out over me and take everything, rule over my house. How would you feel?" Conley said. "Dwayne was a monster and Valerie, she was no Good Samaritan either, they did evil things all the time."

Conley also said he didn't feel the children were being raised properly.

"They were growing up to be monsters, they were disrespectful, rude in school. I'm not saying they're dead because of that. I'm not even saying I killed them." Conley said. "God says in the Bible do not disrespect your mother and father or your days will be short, but I'm not saying that's what happened."

Conley said he had an "on-and-off" relationship with Valerie Jackson for 14 years. Conley said he met Jackson through a phone dating service he found in a newspaper after he got out of prison. When asked about the repeated charges of domestic violence against Jackson, Conley said "they were all lies."

Conley said he recently agreed to move out of the house he shared with Jackson and the kids but realized he had nowhere else to live. He claimed he had paid his rent, so he went back to the home because he felt he should at least be able to stay in one room.

Sheriff's deputies said Conley found the locks on the home had been changed so he crept in through an unlocked window and killed Jackson, her husband and six children.

"How is it you're the only one found in that house alive?" asked Arnold.

"I promised my lawyer I wouldn't go into specific details," Conley said.
