Boyfriend arrested after 25-year-old mother of 5 was murdered in Polk County

LIVINGSTON, Texas – The man believed to have killed a 25-year-old woman in Polk County has been arrested, according to authorities.

A loving mother of five children.

That’s one way Dwana Bowman describes her daughter, 25-year-old Jasmine Muldoon. Bowman spoke with KPRC 2 reporter Corley Peel.

“She was quirky, amazing. Very funny,” Bowman told us.

On Sunday, Bowman learned her daughter was reported missing.

Her boyfriend, 23-year-old De’Andre Wright, called his mother to pick him up.

“His mother immediately went to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and reported that she had suspicions, and something was wrong because Jasmine was not there,” Bowman said.

She said it is not normal for Muldoon to be without her children. A neighbor told KPRC 2 that Muldoon was last seen on Thursday.

On Monday, deputies told Bowman they found her daughter’s body in a wooded area just north of Livingston—not far from the young mother’s home off Marston Road.

“The detective told us he had found her, and said it wasn’t good, and he wouldn’t go into details,” Bowman said.

She said Wright and Muldoon had been in a relationship for more than two years and shared a 4-month-old baby girl.

Corley asked Bowman what the couple’s relationship was like.

Abusive. Controlling. Manipulative,” she said.

According to Bowman, Wright had physically hurt Muldoon in the past.

In November, he beat her so badly. She was in the hospital in Kingwood, and she was pregnant then with [his] baby,” said Bowman.

Bowman shared a picture with KPRC 2 showing Muldoon’s swollen and bruised eye with stitches in her eyebrow. Bowman said that is a common mark Wright would leave on her daughter. Bowman said it was hard to see.

“Very, very hard, because I was there at one point in time in my life when I was younger. And I begged her. I said, ‘Baby, please get away. Get away.’ And she promised me she would. She promised. She said she loved him. I believe she was scared of him,” she said.

Bowman has a message for other families of domestic violence victims.

Don’t turn your back. I don’t care how much your child pushes you away, don’t ignore that. Embrace them. Get them away.”
