STI Awareness Month: What parents and teens need to know

Sexually Transmitted Infections can be asymptomatic

HOUSTON – People ages 15 to 24 are the hardest-hit age group when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases.

We talked to Houston Health Department deputy local health authority, Janeana White, to learn how people can minimize their risk of the disease.

“The best way to know that you are at risk is to really take the proper prevention and go get tested,” White said. “So, knowing your HIV status is very important.”
