1 dead after pickup truck falls off Highway 59 ramp, catches fire

One person died after a pickup truck fell off a Highway 59 ramp and crashed on Saturday, the Houston Police Department said. (KPRC)

HOUSTON – One person died after a pickup truck fell off a Highway 59 ramp and crashed on Saturday, the Houston Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to the crash at about 2:45 a.m. at Highway 59 North and Interstate 610.

A Dodge pickup truck had been traveling west on I-610 and then got on a ramp to merge onto Highway 59 North. The driver lost control, and the truck rolled off the ramp and caught on fire on the ground.

Police have not identified the victim. It is unknown why the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Officers also said they are praying for the victim.
