Keith Garvin

Anchor, Reporter

Keith Garvin is an Emmy award-winning journalist who joined KPRC 2 News as an anchor/reporter in August 2012. In that time he has reported on both shooting tragedies at Fort Hood, the American Sniper Murder Trial, & won a regional Emmy as anchor of the Best Newscast in 2013.

Keith is a Texas native. He grew up in Bryan-College Station and is a proud graduate of Bryan High School. He played his final high school football game at Kyle Field on the Texas A&M University campus. He got a football scholarship at the University of Nevada at Reno and earned a broadcast journalism degree from the university's Don Reynolds School of Journalism.

Before joining KPRC 2, Keith was an anchor/reporter at KTVT in Dallas-Fort Worth. He spent time as a correspondent for ABC News where he traveled as a member of the White House Press Corps, reported from Iraq, & covered Hurricane Wilma. Keith also worked at WRC-TV in Washington D.C., WTVD in Raleigh, N.C., and KFSN in Fresno, Calif. He has also worked behind the camera. He produced newscasts in Reno, Las Vegas, and Raleigh for six years.

Keith's favorite part of his job is being able to meet people and tell their stories. He is proudest of telling the stories of United States military members directly from Iraq, Afghanistan, & Kuwait. He has interviewed the likes of former Secretaries of State Colin Powell & Condoleezza Rice, Rev. Billy Graham, and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, & also reported from Rwanda several times, including on the 15 year remembrance of the genocide in that country.

When Keith isn't working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters. They are members of Houston's Second Baptist Church.

Keith also enjoys traveling, running, reading and dining at Mexican and Thai restaurants. His memberships include the Houston Association of Black Journalists & Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
