Sara Donchey

Anchor, Reporter

HOUSTON – Sara Donchey anchors KPRC Channel 2 News at 4 p.m. and reports weekday afternoons.

Sara is a Southern California native, born and raised in the city of Diamond Bar in Los Angeles County. She joined KPRC 2 from KRIS-TV, the NBC affiliate in Corpus Christi, where she worked for two years as an anchor and reporter.

During her stay at KRIS, Sara covered a variety of stories including deadly flooding in Central Texas that claimed the lives of three Corpus Christi families, and the sudden death of the city's police chief.

She anchored the weekend evening newscasts, and regularly contributed to the morning, noon and weekday evening broadcasts as an anchor and reporter.

Prior to her time at KRIS, Sara worked at KPIX-TV, the CBS-owned and operated station in San Francisco, as a production assistant and writer.

Sara studied print and online journalism at San Francisco State University, where she worked as the online managing editor for the university's award-winning weekly publication, the Golden Gate Xpress. She also worked as the editorial cartoonist, and enjoys sketching and drawing in her free time. The publication and website won several awards under her leadership.

When she isn't working, Sara loves spending time with her two Doberman Pinschers, Hiwa and Sula. She also enjoys a competitive jeopardy match and double-doubles from In-N-Out Burger.

Sara is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
