Hit-and-run driver wanted in man's death

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are looking for a driver who they say caused a fatal accident and fled the scene in the 25500 block of Tomball Parkway on July 27.

The victim, Francisco Casanova-Cruz, and the unidentified driver were both traveling southbound on the 249 service road. Casanova-Cruz was traveling in the center lane, and the other driver was in the left lane when their vehicles struck each other, according to investigators.

Casanova-Cruz's vehicle slid along the wall and crashed. He was taken to Memorial-Hermann Hospital, where he later died.

The other driver fled the scene and failed to stop and render aid to the victim, authorities said.

The unidentified driver's vehicle was described as a gray Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup, a four-door early 2000s model.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging or arrest of the driver.
