HOUSTON – Houstonians celebrated at a huge New Year's Eve party in downtown Houston.

“I think it's awesome. We're having a great time. It's nice to have a place to take the kids,” said Angela Blankenship.

It was complete with music, dancing, entertainers, food and fun for people of all ages.

“We were playing arcade, paint face and just walking around, eating, having fun, relaxing. It's our first time here,” said Anel Ortega.

The Ortega family lives in Kingwood but came here to start a new tradition.

“We rented a hotel here nearby just to stay here and enjoy everything,” said Ortega.

Several times during the night, rain showers halted the fun.

“We were in the Wortham. It stopped raining a few minutes and we came back out. A guy on stilts and lights and it's cool,” said David Melendrez.

Despite the rain, everyone agreed the Texas-sized party was a great way to ring in the New Year.

The party ended at midnight with a ball drop and fireworks.
