HPD: Man questioned, released after accidental gun discharge at Galleria

HOUSTON – Houston police responded to reports of shots fired at the Galleria on Thursday night.

Witnesses said a man was carrying a gun in a backpack when it fell to the ground and the gun discharged.

Police said the man did have a permit to carry, but his weapon was improperly secured.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The man was detained and questioned before police released him. The district attorney did not accept charges.

Police said the man will most likely lose his license to carry and could lose shopping privileges at The Galleria.

Police escorted the man out and he was told not to come back because he was in violation of their rules.

KPRC will provide updates when they become available.
