Stolen car of father killed in home invasion found; gunmen on the run

HOUSTON – There still have been no arrests in the murder of a father gunned down in his North Harris County apartment late Wednesday night.

Thursday morning detectives found the stolen car of 26-year-old Adrian Neal, who was killed in his apartment, after three masked men tried to rob him and his girlfriend.

Deputies found Neal’s 2003 beige Buick LeSabre at the Forest Point apartments around 10 a.m. Thursday after a tip was called in.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, three men broke into Neal’s third-floor apartment in the 5900 block of FM 1960 around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

"The three men broke in and demanded cash," Harris County Sheriff's Sgt. Greg Pinkins said. "After they didn't get any cash, they ransacked the apartment, shot the victim and took his car keys."

Investigators said the burglars held the father of two at gunpoint and shot him several times.

"He tried to hold them off at the door, but they shot him. He told his girlfriend, 'I've been shot' and then collapsed," the victim's uncle, Clifford Goodwin said. "His mother, father, sister, aunts, cousins are all here. I just cried and prayed the whole way here. It's in God's hands now."

Family members believe Neal might have been targeted because of the rims on his car.

According to witnesses, the men were wearing dark-colored clothing and had handkerchiefs over their faces.

Thursday afternoon investigators appeared to be questioning three to four young men about the crime, at the location where Neal’s vehicle was found, however they would not confirm the men were suspects.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
