HOUSTON – A girl was killed and five other people injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in southwest Houston.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. at Westpark on the Southwest Freeway. Police said a pickup truck was going northbound on the Southwest Freeway feeder road at Westpark when the driver of a red car tried to turn and clipped the truck, sending it into a concrete pillar.
Police said an 11-year-old girl, who was sitting in the backseat of the pickup, was killed.
Four children, between the ages of 5 and 16, and one adult were also inside the truck. They were taken to the hospital, police said. We're told they have minor injuries and are expected to recover. A second man inside the truck was not hurt.
Police believe the hit-and-run driver may have been in a red Chevy Cobalt.
