Former President George H.W. Bush discharged from Houston hospital No description found
HOUSTON – Former President George H.W. Bush was discharged Friday from a Houston hospital after recovering from pneumonia and chronic bronchitis, according to a family spokesman.
The 41st president, who is 92, was admitted April 18 to Houston Methodist Hospital after experiencing a persistent cough. Doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia and successfully treated the illness.
“President and Mrs. Bush are very pleased to be home spending time with family and friends and grateful for the outstanding care provided by his doctors and nurses,” said Jim McGrath, a spokesman for the Bush family.
This is not the first time that Bush has been treated for pneumonia. He was hospitalized in January because of the illness. He was placed in the intensive care unit and was briefly intubated before his recovery and release.
Bush appeared in public a couple of times after his January hospitalization, including tossing the coin at Super Bowl LI.
