Former boyfriend reacts to woman's Rolls Royce shooting arrest

Quindolyn Kauffman charged with aggravated assault

HOUSTON – When Quinton Jones heard about the Houston woman accused of shooting up her ex-boyfriend’s Rolls Royce, he said he never would have guessed it was the same girl he dated back in high school.

Quindolyn Kauffman, 23, has been charged with aggravated assault after police say she fired shots at her ex’s luxury car near the Galleria early Tuesday. The incident started as an argument and Kauffman began chasing her boyfriend down the street. As she was driving, police say she pulled out a pistol and shot out his engine.

"She had to be very mad," Jones said. "I don’t know if he did something or what happened."

Jones said the girl he dated at Sharpstown High School was smart, sweet and would never do something like this.

"You would not get that impression from her at all," Jones said. "That is why I’m just so shocked."

After making her first court appearance, Kauffman is behind bars on a $30,000 bail.

"Jail for her, from the person I remember, seems a little harsh," Jones said. "But she did threaten somebody’s life and other lives."

Kauffman’s next court date is set for Monday. Her ex-boyfriend was not injured during the shooting.

Police are still searching for a motive for the shooting.
