Fire sweeps through northeast Houston recycling plant

HOUSTON – Arson investigators were working Monday to determine the cause of a large fire at a northeast Houston recycling plant.

The fire was reported just after midnight at the Republic Services plant on Oates Road near Beaumont Highway.

Firefighters said large piles of recyclable material in the back of the building caught fire, which led to a collapse of the building’s roof.

By 7 a.m., firefighters had the fire under control but were monitoring hot spots.

No injuries were reported.
