When they arrived, they found smoke inside the ceiling area. The fire was in an exterior wall and extended to the roof area.

Officials said the fire was tapped out around 8:30 p.m. and the building sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage.

One firefighter was taken by ambulance to Hermann Hospital Medical Center.

At about 1 a.m. Thursday police were called back to the restaurant after a 17-year-old was shot while apparently trying to rob a contractor.

During the attempted robbery, police said the teen walked up and pointed a gun at the contractor. The contractor grabbed the gun and tried to wrestle it from the teen when it went off, shooting the boy in the groin. Police said the would-be robber tried to run away but was caught by officers and arrested.

The 17-year-old was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious but stable condition. The contractor was not hurt.

The teen will face charges once he is released from the hospital, police said.
