FBI offers shooting scenario training to civilians

CLEVELAND – Whenever there's a questionable police shooting, it's common for civilians to make judgments on whether or not they think it was justified.

The FBI Cleveland division gave a group of civilians the opportunity to go through shooting scenario training to show how difficult split-second decisions can be, and how the perceived threat can be very different depending on gender and life experience.

Special Agent Rick Florence trains agents to know when it's okay to shoot or not shoot.

"You're carrying these filters in your brain about who's a threat and who's not a threat and you have to get rid of those," Florence says.

They aim to teach how to think, not how to shoot.
