Family, friends gather to remember mother killed by driver who ran away

HOUSTON – Family members gathered for a vigil Friday in honor of a 26-year-old woman killed in a crash in Northeast Houston.

“I just thank everyone for being a part of her life," said mother Joslyn Hargrove.

Hargrove was heartbroken after losing her 26-year-old daughter, Shatarian Hargrove. To everyone who knew her, her name was “Precious.”

“Everything she did was with her kids,” said Joslyn Hargrove.

A 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy were left without a mother.

Police said Hargrove was driving at Crosstimbers and Lockwood Sunday afternoon when a driver ran a red light and hit her car.

“She had just left her friend Chelsea and she was comforting her cause she had lost her fiance and she was on her way to me,” said Joslyn Hargrove.

But her daughter never made it.

The driver who police said caused the crash left his black Honda Accord and ran away.

“I want to know what his reason was. Why he was going that fast,” said Joslyn Hargrove.

Family members tried to stay strong for her two children.

“We got to keep striving for them and make it work,” said Joslyn Hargrove.

No word on if police arrested the driver who caused the crash.
