Fallen service men, women honored at National Cemetery Memorial Day Service

HOUSTON – U.S. servicemen and women were honored in a ceremony at the National Cemetery Memorial Day Service Monday. Open to the public, it took place at the Houston VA National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive.

Colonel Patrick M. Brown, Assistant Division Commander for the 100th Training Division at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, gave the Memorial Day address. The event also featured a parade of colors and wreaths by numerous local veterans' organizations, ROTC units, and Boy and Girl Scout troops. There were many symbolic highlights including a performance of "Taps," a cannon salute, "Amazing Grace" performed by Ian Martin and a rifle salute.
