Ex-nurse accused of raping Houston Methodist patient

HOUSTON – A former nurse at Houston Methodist Hospital is accused of raping a patient last year, according to court documents.

The documents identified the suspect as Allen Uribes, 27, of Conroe, who was charged with sexual assault of an adult in connection with the June 30, 2016, incident.

According to the documents, Uribes raped the 45-year-old woman after touching her while attending to an IV near her groin.

Tests after the assault showed Uribes’ DNA was on the patient, according to the documents.

Hospital officials released a statement Thursday, saying Uribes was fired after they learned of the indictment.

“We are devastated by this news and our hearts go out to the patient and her family,” the statement said. “We fully cooperated with authorities during the investigation and we remain steadfast in our goal to keep all patients safe while they are in our hospitals.”

Houston police said there could be other victims. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the HPD's special victims unit at 713-308-1180.
