Elderly woman sexually assaulted, robbed at Sunnyside home dies

HOUSTON – An elderly woman whose family said she was sexually assaulted and robbed at a Sunnyside home early this year has died.

Travis McGee with Sunnyside Gardens Community Association said 95-year-old Ophelia Outley died on Tuesday.

Family members said the attack happened around 11 p.m. on Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 18. Outley was walking out of her kitchen when the attacker broke into the house by taking out an air condition window unit. The family members said that the attacker wanted her television.

The attacker allegedly removed the victim's underwear and asked her for money before leaving.

Relatives said McGee was a World War II veteran.
