I-45 NB at North Loop reopens after deadly crash

Three vehicles are involved

HOUSTON – The North Freeway at the North Loop was shutdown after a deadly three-vehicle crash Sunday morning. 

The crash was reported in the northbound lanes of I-45 around 3:50 a.m.

According to police, a person driving a black Nissan Altima stopped in the fast moving lane on I-45 to fix a flat tire. 

A white Honda Accord pulled up behind the black Altima to help fix the flat tire, police said. 

According to officials, A white Dodge Ram truck rear-ended the Honda, which trapped the driver of the Altima between the two vehicles.

Officials said the driver of the Altima died upon impact.

According to police, the driver of the Honda and a passenger in the Ram were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ram was evaluated at the scene and police said there were no signs of intoxication. 

There are no charges in the incident as the investigation continues.
