Cy-Fair teacher wins $24,000 prize

One lucky teacher will win the prize of a lifetime at Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s "Salute to Stars" event Thursday night.

The winner will be chosen from a random drawing and the prize is $24,000 worth of mortgage payments for a full year compliments of Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union.

This is the second year that the foundation and credit union have partnered to surprise a local educator.

Salute to the Stars was created in 1998 and has raised over $2 million for staff development grants.

The 2015 selected teacher was able to purchase a home with the money from last year’s event.

Cy-Fair Educational Foundation has been around for 45 years and has donated over $6 million in scholarships to more than 1,200 graduates of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
