Crews continue search for remains of Jessica Cain

HOUSTON – Crews returned to a field near Hobby Airport Tuesday morning to continue their search for the remains of a teenage girl who went missing in the late 1990s.

Members of the La Marque Police Department and Texas EquuSearch have been at the field near Orem and Martindale every day for the past week.  They're searching for the remains of 17-year-old Jessica Cain, who went missing in 1997.

William Reece is the man suspected in her disappearance. He has been out to the field a couple of times over the last week, helping investigators in the search.

Reece is currently locked up after being charged and sentence in another case.  He was convicted of kidnapping Sandra Sapaugh in the 1990s. She managed to escape.

A childhood friend of Cain's stopped by the field Tuesday afternoon and placed some flowers on the fence, to honor her friend.

On Monday a woman who was on the search team for Cain almost 20 years ago showed up to the field to place red and yellow ribbons on the fence. The red ribbon is for Cain. The yellow is for a girl named Laura Smither, who went missing months before Cain.
