Couple: Rosenberg police used excessive force during arrest

ROSENBERG, Texas – Cell phone video that shows the arrest of a couple has turned into a lawsuit against the Rosenberg Police Department.

The couple in the video, Christine Saenz and her husband, alleges police used excessive force while trying to detain the two.

The couple said police pulled them out of their truck after a family argument. The video shows police slamming them to the ground and punching them.

Rosenberg officers can be heard telling the man and woman repeatedly to 'stay down' in the video.

Audio has been muted through most of the clip due to profanity.

The couple initially faced felony and public assault to a servant charges but those charges were dropped.

KPRC 2 reached out to the department for a comment, but our calls have not yet been returned.
