Confrontation between security guard, wrecker driver ends in shootout, police say

HOUSTON – A confrontation between a security guard and a tow truck driver ended in a shootout Friday morning in southwest Houston.

Police said they are trying to sort out the details of conflicting stories. According to investigators, the wrecker driver claims he was trying to tow the security guard's car when the guard pulled out a gun and started shooting. The wrecker driver's passenger was shot and the two drove off to a nearby Taco Bell where he called police.

The security guard told police the driver and passenger were trying to get into the bar but were turned away because they had weapons.

The passenger was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
