610 East Loop reopens after cement truck fire blocks several lanes

HOUSTON – A fire involving a cement truck on Tuesday blocked several lanes of the Interstate 610 East Loop at the Ship Channel bridge.

The fire was reported at 2:43 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway.

Houston TranStar cameras showed only a single lane of traffic was getting by the scene.

Houston police said there was lots of debris on the highway, and it took crews a while to clean up the mess.

The scene was cleared by 6:26 a.m.
