Cancer patients turn to art to help healing

HOUSTON – Some cancer patients forgot about traditional medicine for some art therapy.

Thanks to an event organized by Baylor College of Medicine's NCI-designated Dan L. Duncan Center called PaintFest America, cancer survivors, hospital staff and families used a paint brush to create 48 colorful panels for a mural.

The painting festival was held at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center McNair Campus on Monday.

The event was hosted by the Foundation of Hospital Art and celebrated the power of art in healing.

One local survivor created a special panel that will be incorporated into a national mural in New York.
