Body found in search of missing 60-year-old woman

HOUSTON – A body was found while volunteers were searching for a missing 60-year-old woman Sunday morning, Tim Miller, of Texas Equusearch, said.

According to Miller, the body believed to be that of Elizabeth Rivera was found 10 minutes after the search party began. It was found along train tracks on Broadway Street and Old Galveston Road.

Rivera was reported missing on Oct. 29. She was last seen near the area where the body was found.

Officials at the scene said the body is severely decomposed and they could not confirm if it was Rivera. Houston police are awaiting autopsy results to confirm the woman's identity.

Officials said the victim was found wearing black pants and a cheetah print shirt.

There are no initial signs of gunshot wounds or injuries, officials said. The woman's cause of death is pending autopsy results.
