Body found in neighborhood near high school in NW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man's body was found Tuesday in a neighborhood near a high school in northwest Harris County, according to authorities.

Deputies said a teenager found the man's body in an easement in a field near Tomball Memorial High School in the 19100 block of Northpointe Ridge Lane just before 10 a.m. The body was not found on school property, authorities said.

"Whatever happened over there, it's just scary," said Jacob Van Jura, a resident of the area.

Jura and his father, Ed, walked their neighborhood and came across the crime scene.

Drone video obtained exclusively by KPRC 2 shows the view above investigators as they put their heads together to find out what happened to the body, which was found behind a row of houses.

"We live right around the corner so my kids play here all the time" Ed Van Jura said. "Try to let my kids be kids and go out and play, but, you know, you have dead bodies in your neighborhood. Definitely have to start reserving that a little bit."

Initially, deputies thought the body was burned, but later said that wasn't the case.

Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide detectives are investigating how the body got there. The medical examiner will look into the cause of death.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
