Baylor College of Medicine doctor accused of sexually assaulting 4 children

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Baylor College of Medicine doctor accused of sexually assaulting four children was arrested at his job Friday morning, Harris County Sheriff's deputies confirm.

Ricky Haywood-Watson, 37, is charged with four counts of super aggravated sexual assault of a child, continuous abuse of a child and indecency with a child.

Deputies said the children, who were between the ages of 4 and 10 years old, made an outcry to their mother, who filed the report.

Baylor released a statement that read, in part, "Dr. Ricky Haywood-Watson II is a surgery resident at Baylor College of Medicine. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation."

According to a bio on Baylor's website, Haywood-Watson was selected to receive a 2015 Society of Thoracic Surgeons Looking to the Future Scholarships. Funded by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons the scholarships underwrite expenses for attendance at the STS Annual Meeting and to provide mentorship to aspiring cardiothoracic surgeons. Scholarships include complimentary registration for the STS 51st Annual Meeting and STS/AATS Tech-Con 2015 in San Diego.

Haywood-Watson II earned his Ph.D. from Tulane University in New Orleans through a partnership program with the NIH where he completed his dissertation research. He earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He is currently a third year general surgery resident at Baylor College of Medicine.

Haywood-Watson is being held on $400,000 bond.
