He said the new restaurant will be built over his old steakhouse at 2804 South Main Street. It will be a 1950s-style burger place that will offer several different proteins and allow burger lovers to choose their own blend. The restaurant will also be making its own hot dogs from scratch, Killen said.

"One of my favorite (blends) is beef brisket, pork belly and Neuski bacon," Killen said.

Killen's barbecue recipes have been highlighted in several national publications, including GQ Magazine, Texas Monthly and Houstonia Magazine. Last year, Food Network named Killen's Barbecue the second best barbecue destination in America for its smoked brisket.

Houstonians can only hope the menu at Killen's Burger will be as mouthwatering as expected. Killen has already built an outstanding reputation for serving good food through Killen's Steakhouse and Killen's Barbecue.
