Robber dressed as woman threatens teller with explosives, flees with undisclosed amount of cash

HOUSTON – A man dressed as a woman fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash in a bank robbery on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Texas City police received a hold-up alarm from Regions Bank on 1110 25th St. 

According to witnesses, the man entered the bank and, after a few minutes, approached a teller and handed them a note demanding money. The man also said he had an explosive device and produced a handgun. The teller handed over money, and the man fled the scene in a silver vehicle heading westbound on Palmer Highway.

It appears the man acted alone.

Texas City bomb squad was called to the scene to examine the device. No one was injured during the robbery.
