Escaped prisoner caught in woods, arrested in northeast Harris County

HUMBLE, Texas – An 18-year-old burglary suspect who escaped a Harris County boot camp Wednesday was captured Thursday morning in northeast Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

According to authorities, he escaped around 5 p.m. near 2310 Atascocita Road. He was last seen running into a wooded area wearing a gray short sleeved shirt and shorts. 

An off-duty police officer spotted the suspect Thursday morning near North Sam Houston Parkway East, near Wilson. Deputies set up a perimeter, and found the suspect in the woods. 

He was treated at the scene and taken into custody.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, he will be charged with escape from a correctional facility.
