Attempted robbers held at gunpoint by good Samaritan

HOUSTON – Would-be robbers were held at gunpoint by a good Samaritan, according to deputies.

Three men stormed into an AutoZone at 9 p.m. Friday on Jones Road and West Road and demanded money from employees at gunpoint, officials said.

A customer pulled up outside the store and saw what was happening, according to authorities.

The customer had a concealed handgun permit, so he took matter into his own hands, deputies said.

The customer went inside the store and told all three men to get on the ground and to release their weapons while they waited for deputies to arrive, according to authorities.

All three men were arrested, deputies said.

Deputies said they appreciated the good Samaritan's deed, however they do not recommend that people take such a bold move because things could have ended in a shootout and many people could have gotten hurt.
