Cancer-stricken Astros fan who inspired Altuve home run dies

HOUSTON – The Houston Astros shared a sad update about a young fan who inspired second baseman Jose Altuve to hit a home run during a game against the Seattle Mariners.

Dylan Tindall-Heathcock, 10, died after he had been undergoing cancer treatment. The Astros posted the news on their Twitter account:

"We're heartbroken to learn of Dylan Tindall-Heathcock's passing. We send our sincerest condolences to his family."

Altuve hit a home run during the May 6 game against the Mariners. Before the game, Altuve gave Dylan an autographed baseball bat, but Dylan had a request for Altuve - hit a home run.

"I really like the kid. He was really happy to be here," Altuve said.
