Police shoot armed man in face after confrontation in Pasadena

HOUSTON – A man is in the hospital after he was shot in the face by police in Pasadena.

Officers were called to the La Villa Apartments in the 300 block of Richey around 11:30 Wednesday night. When they arrived, they were flagged down by someone who warned them the man had a gun.

Police then confronted the man in the doorway of this apartment and asked him to show his hands.

After some sort of confrontation, the officer opened fire, saying they feared for their safety and were concerned for the other people living in the complex.

The man was shot at least once. We spoke with a neighbor who says he saw the entire thing unfold.

"Me and my family were about to lay down, we heard some yelling, and it went quiet, and all of a sudden we heard explosions, gunshots, a lot of them," said neighbor Anthony Lopez.

Officers said the couple has two young children. Lopez said he could hear them screaming inside the apartment.

"Young kids, little kids, you could hear them crying, they didn't know what was going on, they were scared, the wife kept calling for the kids, for the kids. The cops went in and got them and comforted them as best they could," said Lopez.

The suspect was shot in the face and taken to the hospital by LifeFlight in serious condition. His injuries are believe to be non-life threatening.

The officers involved were not injured.
